How do we service and maintain your lift?

First of all, we should differentiate between servicing and technical inspection. Lift servicing must be carried out regularly by an approved lift engineer. This service provider will check the state of all components, bring the lift into compliance and in general, guarantee a high level of lift safety and good working order, as is required for the operation of lifts. OCTÉ, a well-known European distributor, can assist with your lift supply needs. Check out our tips for signing a suitable maintenance contract!

Who should you get to service your lift?

In order to guarantee the safe use of your lift, servicing of the car and all safety devices is crucial. You could do it yourself, but only if you are a qualified professional! Otherwise, the property management company must sign a maintenance contract for a minimum period of one year with a qualified professional service provider, who will regularly intervene:

every 6 weeks for an office building or commonhold residential property

once a year in a private home.

The purpose of this periodic intervention is to check and maintain the device in good working order. The lift engineer will check the landing door locks, and repair or replace any defective parts on your lift.

When contacting a lift engineer to service electric or hydraulic lifts, two types of contract are available:

standard contract:

o Inspection and cleaning of the devices to ensure passenger safety

o Interventions are often restricted to working days (Monday to Friday)

o The time taken to free (a person or goods trapped in the car) may be longer than with a comprehensive service agreement

o If a spare part is replaced, this will be invoiced as an additional cost to you

→ This type of maintenance contract is better for new or nearly new lifts, as you benefit from the two-year warranty after delivery.

comprehensive service agreement:

o Normally, this includes 24/7 rapid repairs should your lift break down: providing additional security for residents or employees in the building!

o The cost of replacing defective parts is included in the price of the service call-out.

→ Recommended for older lifts that require additional servicing and new spare parts.

There is no way to compare the best value between these two contract types. You should make your choice based on your budget (not forgetting the technical inspection every 5 years), your needs, the state of the lift in your office building or commonhold residential property, how often it is used, etc.
